Famocid 40mg is an antacid drug, which helps reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It provides relief and prevents symptoms like heartburn, indigestion, and other acid-related problems. This drug is generally used for the treatment and prevention of stomach ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease as known as acid reflux, peptic ulcer, and other associated problems.
How does it work?
Famocid 40mg contains famotidine as an active ingredient which is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist. The medicine works by blocking the secretion of the gastric acid by indicating the histamine H2 receptors and the action by which the acid production takes place. Due to the inhibition, it reduces the acidity and prevents symptoms of heartburn and certain kinds of ulcers effectively.
Dose Indication
Famocid 40mg must be swallowed whole with water before you take your meal or after 30 minutes of a meal. The medication of this drug must be taken in dose and duration as advised by a doctor. Do not use it in a lesser or higher dose than the prescribed one. During the medicine, it will relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion but in case if the symptoms still persist or get worsen after 14 days of this drug medication you should consult a doctor.
The medicine of the drug is generally prescribed for 8 weeks of the treatment course and must be used regularly to get complete relief and healing from the symptom.
Do not miss the dose during the medication course and consume the missed dose as soon as possible but should avoid it if, almost time for the next scheduled doses and continued to your further medication.
You can also help the drug to work better by eating smaller meals and avoid spicy or oily food, which will also reduce the acidic level in the food and help you to heal the symptoms more easily.

Use Famocid 40mg with caution if you have kidney or liver disorder or other health issues.
Famocid can bring adverse effects like drowsiness in some patients so driving or operating machinery can be unsafe if you observed such effects.
